Public service announcement: Yes, the @shipandanchorpub patio is open, yes, they have @villagebrewery cider and yes, I'm drinking by myself on a Monday afternoon. But when it's sunny and ten degrees on January 14th, what do you want me to do? at Ship & Anchor Pub
Mindy wanted to show off our new @badportraits painting!
I love this city so much.
Nice afternoon out there.
We're doing a new event just for small businesses, entrepreneurs and freelancers. @nextbigthingca is a one day conference that tackles all the things those who work for themselves face every day like managing cash flow and social media posts to pitching the press and keep up with modern digital marketing trends with tiny budgets. It's created for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs. The first 100 tickets are only $99 (though we've already sold 80+ of them since yesterday.) But if 2019 is the year you want to really start owning your business, even if it's something you do on the side, I think you'll love Next Big Thing. Link in bio!
How to eat #glutenfree at @mcdonaldscanada.
1. Go to @subwaycanada and buy their gluten free bun ($6). 2. Then go to McDonald's and order a burger without the bun and the poutine (which is actually 100% gluten free, thanks to @lindzingraham for that hot tip!)

I've got some news! Later this week, @kaitkucy and I will be announcing the details for the third annual Next Big Thing (@nextbigthingca), which is an affordable one-day event for entrepreneurs, freelancers, busy parents who run a business, people in the midst of a career transition or simply individuals who have a great idea that need help getting it off the ground.
It's going to be packed with useful sessions to help you grow your small business. Sessions include problem-solving, finance, pitching the press, branding, industry trends and networking sessions. More information to come, but until then make sure you give @nextbigthingca a follow.
Today is just one of the 332 sunny days we Calgarians enjoy every year. The fact that it's ten degree is just icing on the cake.
Saw lots of Canada in 2018. Very happily skipped the USA. For 2019, we got plans for Europe and hopefully even more of this beautiful country.
The first day back to work is always the hardest. But we got this! #homeoffice
So far, January 2nd has been my favourite day of the year.
Because we adopted Mindy from the @calgaryhumane, we don't know her actual birthday, so we always pretend it's January 1st. Happy Birthday Mindy, you're the best thing that's ever happened to us.
As we put the holiday stuff away, I can never decide if we should keep Christmas cards, but I'll be keeping this two to remember the year Richard and I got each other the exact same Christmas card. That's right, out of the millions of cards out there, we got each other the EXACT same one. We're the worst.
This year my work (as a blogger...which is still weird to me) brought me to all three of Canada's coasts. I'm so excited to see where 2019 takes me...and you! Wherever it is, whether it's around the world or around the corner, I wish you all the best. Happy New Year!
For my fellow The Good Place devotees, ask your Google device about Janet.
Cape Disappointment is the only item on my 2019 bucket list.
